  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour (for thickening)
  • Chopped fresh parsley for optional garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef:
    • Pat the beef tips dry to remove excess moisture.
    • Season the beef tips with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Beef:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Sear seasoned beef tips in batches until browned (2-3 minutes per side).
    • Transfer seared beef to the slow cooker.
  3. Saute Onions and Garlic:
    • In the same skillet, cook diced onion and minced garlic until softened and fragrant (2-3 minutes).
  4. Deglaze the Pan:
    • Pour beef broth into the skillet, scraping up browned bits.
    • Stir in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, dried thyme, and black pepper. Simmer and then remove from heat.
  5. Combine Ingredients in Slow Cooker:
    • Pour the onion and broth mixture over the beef tips in the slow cooker.
  6. Cook Low and Slow:
    • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until beef is tender.
  7. Thicken the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, create a slurry by mixing 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with 1/4 cup of water.
    • Stir the slurry into the slow cooker and cook for an additional 30 minutes on high until the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Serve:
    • Adjust seasoning if necessary.
    • Serve the succulent slow-cooked beef tips hot, optionally garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
