The Ultimate Goulash Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 diced onion
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 cup of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of diced potatoes
  • 1 cup of diced carrots
  • 1 cup of frozen green peas

Directions:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef cubes on all sides, then set them aside.
  2. In the same pot, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until softened.
  3. Stir in paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper, cooking for 1 minute.
  4. Return the browned beef to the pot and add beef broth and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours until beef is tender.
  5. Add diced potatoes, carrots, and peas. Continue simmering for another 30 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Serve with your choice of accompaniments like egg noodles, spaetzle, or bread dumplings.
