Succulent Slow-Cooked Beef Tips
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of beef tips or stew meat
- 1 diced onion
- 3 minced cloves of garlic
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour (for thickening)
- Chopped fresh parsley for optional garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the Beef:
- Pat the beef tips dry to remove excess moisture.
- Season the beef tips with salt and pepper.
- Sear the Beef:
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear seasoned beef tips in batches until browned (2-3 minutes per side).
- Transfer seared beef to the slow cooker.
- Saute Onions and Garlic:
- In the same skillet, cook diced onion and minced garlic until softened and fragrant (2-3 minutes).
- Deglaze the Pan:
- Pour beef broth into the skillet, scraping up browned bits.
- Stir in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, dried thyme, and black pepper. Simmer and then remove from heat.
- Combine Ingredients in Slow Cooker:
- Pour the onion and broth mixture over the beef tips in the slow cooker.
- Cook Low and Slow:
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until beef is tender.
- Thicken the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, create a slurry by mixing 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with 1/4 cup of water.
- Stir the slurry into the slow cooker and cook for an additional 30 minutes on high until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve:
- Adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the succulent slow-cooked beef tips hot, optionally garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
