Irresistible Apple Fritter Bites Recipe
Ingredients:
- Nonstick cooking spray (for greasing)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup no-sugar-added applesauce
- 1 ½ cups peeled and finely diced Honeycrisp apples (about 2 medium apples)
Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ⅓ cup plus 2 TBSP apple cider or apple juice
Instructions:
- Prepare the Apple Fritters:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and generously spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, kosher salt, and cinnamon until thoroughly combined.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter with granulated sugar until well incorporated. Then, add the egg and whisk until combined. Stir in the vanilla extract and applesauce until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully combined. Gently fold in the diced Honeycrisp apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Using a tablespoon, scoop mounds of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a few inches of space between each mound.
- Bake the fritters for 10 minutes until golden brown. Once baked, remove them from the oven and switch on the broiler to high.
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and apple cider (or apple juice) until you achieve a thin glaze consistency.
- Glaze and Broil the Fritters:
- Brush a generous amount of glaze over each fritter, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Return the glazed fritters to the oven and broil for 2-4 minutes, or until the glaze begins to caramelize on top. Rotate the baking sheet every minute to ensure even caramelization.
- Keep a close eye on the fritters to prevent them from burning. Once adequately caramelized, remove them from the oven.
- Final Touch:
- Brush the remaining glaze over the broiled fritters, ensuring even coverage.
- Allow the fritters to cool and the glaze to harden on the baking sheet for approximately 15 minutes.
Enjoy these delectable Apple Fritter Bites as a delightful snack or dessert option that will surely impress your taste buds and leave you craving more!
