Exquisite Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crumb Cake

Ingredients:

Crumb Topping:

  • 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups of packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, melted

Cake:

  • 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup of softened butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup of full-fat sour cream
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and generously grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. For the crumb topping: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle in the melted butter, stirring with a fork until the mixture is well combined. Set aside.
  3. For the cake: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Using a stand mixer or hand mixer on high speed, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy. Reduce the speed to low and add the eggs one at a time, mixing just until combined. Then mix in the sour cream and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the batter.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool for at least 45 minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
