Easy Homemade Chocolate Turtle Cake

Ingredients:
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
- 2 cups of pecans
- 3/4 cup of melted butter
- 1/2 cup of evaporated milk
- 1 (14 ounce) bag of caramels
- 1 1/3 cups of water (or as instructed by your cake mix)
- 1/3 cup of oil (or as instructed by your cake mix)
- 3 eggs (or as instructed by your cake mix)
- 1 (18 ounce) box of German chocolate cake mix
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Follow the directions on your cake mix to prepare the batter.
- Pour half of the batter into a 13×9 inch pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool.
- In a double boiler, combine caramels, milk, and butter. Stir constantly until melted.
- Pour the melted caramel mixture over the cooling cake.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of pecans and chocolate chips on top.
- Pour the remaining batter over the pecans and chocolate chips.
- Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
- Allow the cake to cool before serving.
