Beer-Battered Onion Rings with Zesty Dipping Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup beer
  • Oil for frying

Zesty Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons horseradish
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg and then mix with the beer.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients to form the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Dip onion rings into the batter, then fry in the hot oil until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels.
  7. For the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients until smooth.
