Beer-Battered Onion Rings with Zesty Dipping Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 cup beer
- Oil for frying
Zesty Dipping Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 teaspoons horseradish
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the egg and then mix with the beer.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients to form the batter.
- Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
- Dip onion rings into the batter, then fry in the hot oil until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- For the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients until smooth.
