Dutch Apple Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tsp butter
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 1/2 cup diced apple (peeled)
- 1/3 cup walnuts or crushed walnuts
Instructions:
- Begin by preparing the yeast mixture. In a small bowl, combine half a cup of warm water with a teaspoon of sugar. Add the yeast to the warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, butter, and the remaining water. Knead the ingredients together until well incorporated.
- Once the yeast is activated, add it to the dough mixture and knead until smooth. Adjust the consistency with additional water if needed.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and walnuts. Allow the mixture to sit for half an hour to let the flavors meld.
- After the resting period, combine the apple and nut mixture with the dough, ensuring even distribution.
- Grease a bread mold with oil and transfer the dough into the mold.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for approximately 40 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
