Savory Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients:
- 12 large cabbage leaves
- 1 cup cooked rice
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ pound ground pork
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- ½ cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Directions:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, ground beef, ground pork, diced onion, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper.
- Place a portion of the meat mixture onto the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll the leaf around the filling, ensuring ends are tucked.
- Arrange the rolls seam side down in a baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the mixture over the cabbage rolls.
- Cover the baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 1 hour or until the meat is thoroughly cooked.
