Delectable Garlic and Cheese Pinwheels
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons of instant yeast (1 packet)
- 3/4 cup of warm milk
- 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup of softened unsalted butter
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- In a spacious bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and beaten egg, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for approximately 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Transfer it to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, which usually takes about 1 hour.
- Mix the softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley, setting the mixture aside.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 1/2 inch thick. Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the dough, then sprinkle it with the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Carefully roll up the dough tightly from the long side, resembling a jelly roll. Slice it into 12 equal pieces and place them cut side up in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover it and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
