Cheesy Quick Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ½ tablespoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the shredded cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, milk, and beaten egg.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing!
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Suggestions:
- For an extra cheesy flavor, sprinkle additional shredded cheese on top of the batter before baking.
- Consider adding other mix-ins such as chopped fresh herbs, cubed ham, or chopped jalapeños.
- While best enjoyed warm, this bread can be stored at room temperature for up to three days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
