Wonton Soup Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 ounces ground pork
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 24 square (3½ inches each) wonton wrappers
- 6 cups (1,440g) chicken broth
- 1½ teaspoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2-3 green onions, finely chopped
Preparation
- Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, brown sugar, and finely chopped green onions. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well incorporated.
- Assemble the Wontons: Place approximately 1 heaping teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper to form a triangle, pressing out any excess air. Lift the long edge slightly and fold the corners toward each other, pressing firmly to seal. If necessary, moisten the edges to ensure a secure seal. Repeat this process for all wonton wrappers and set them aside.
- Prepare the Soup: In a medium pot over medium heat, combine the chicken broth, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and finely chopped green onions. Heat the mixture until it simmers.
- Cook the Wontons: In a separate large pot, bring approximately 4 quarts of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the prepared wontons and cook for about 5 minutes. After cooking, strain the wontons and add them to the simmering broth mixture.
- Serve: Serve the wonton soup warm, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
Enjoy your delicious homemade wonton soup!
