Southern Fried Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 4 teaspoons garlic salt
  • ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning mix
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 beaten eggs

Directions:

Step 1: Preparing the Batter

  1. In a bowl, combine beaten eggs with buttermilk.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, poultry seasoning, garlic salt, paprika, and black pepper. Transfer this mixture into a large ziplock bag.

Step 2: Coating the Chicken

  1. Place chicken pieces in the bag and shake to evenly coat them.
  2. Dip each piece into the egg mixture.

Step 3: Double Coating

  1. Dip each chicken piece into the flour mixture again, shaking off excess.

Step 4: Frying

  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet to 375°F.
  2. Brown the chicken on each side, then reduce the heat.
  3. Allow the chicken to cook for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on size.

Step 5: Checking Doneness

  1. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F before serving.

Step 6: Serving

  1. Drain on absorbent paper.
  2. Serve and enjoy your delicious Southern Fried Chicken!
