Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs
Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs
Ingredients:
4 pounds pork baby back ribs
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups ketchup
1 cup chili sauce
½ cup packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons vinegar
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 dash hot sauce
Directions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Season and Brown the Ribs: Generously season the ribs with salt and pepper. Place them in a shallow baking pan.
Brown the ribs in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, flip them over and brown for another 15 minutes to seal in the juices.
Drain any excess fat from the ribs after browning.
3. Prepare the Barbecue Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine ketchup, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of hot sauce. Mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Cook in the Slow Cooker: Place the browned ribs into your slow cooker.
Pour the prepared barbecue sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Turn the ribs in the sauce to ensure thorough coating.
5. Slow Cook: Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours. The extended cooking time will result in tender ribs with deeply infused flavors.
6. Serve: Once the ribs are tender and fully cooked, they are ready to be served. Enjoy them as is or pair them with coleslaw, cornbread, or your favorite barbecue sides.
