Seafood Salad Recipe
Ingredients
- 16 oz. imitation crab meat (preferably flaked)
- 1/2 cup finely diced celery
- 3 tablespoons very finely diced red onion
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (or 1/2 teaspoon dried dill)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the imitation crab meat, celery, red onion, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, mayonnaise, dill, salt, and pepper.
- Gently toss the ingredients until they are well-coated.
- Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate. This salad can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve on a crusty baguette with lettuce.
- Enjoy with crackers.
- Scoop into a butter lettuce cup.
- Add cooked pasta for a chilled seafood pasta salad.
- Fill baked puff pastry shells with the seafood salad.
- Hollow out a tomato and stuff it with the salad.
Notes
Old Bay seasoning is distinctive, and no other seasoning quite matches its flavor. It’s usually easy to find, but if unavailable, you can make a similar spice mix. Old Bay contains 18 ingredients, the exact list of which is a secret. The following mixture, which makes about 1/4 cup, can be stored in an airtight container and used as needed:
