Professional Recipe: Homemade Sweet Bread

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 40g sugar
  • 2g salt
  • 7g dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 140ml warm milk
  • 40g cream cheese
  • 30g butter

For the Custard Filling:

  • 300g custard

Feel free to experiment with ingredient replacements. For instance, you can opt for whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour for a richer flavor. For a lighter alternative, consider substituting Greek yogurt for cream cheese in the dough.

Directions:

  1. Mixing the Dough: In a bowl, blend warm milk, sugar, yeast, egg, and cream cheese until well combined.
  2. Adding Dry Ingredients: Integrate all-purpose flour and salt into the mixture. Knead the dough until it attains a smooth consistency.
  3. Incorporating Butter: Knead the soft butter into the dough and let it rest for 2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  4. Dividing and Shaping: Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
  5. Filling with Custard: Flatten each dough ball and add a tablespoon of custard. Seal the edges by pinching them together.
  6. Resting Time: Allow the filled dough balls to rest for 30 minutes to enable them to rise.
  7. Arranging in the Pan: Slightly roll out each ball and place them on a round, overlapping baking pan.
  8. Final Rise and Baking: Let the assembled balls rise for an additional hour. Bake at 160°C/320°F for 30 minutes. Brush with butter before serving.
