Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Begin by marinating the chicken pieces in buttermilk in a large bowl, ensuring they are fully coated. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to tenderize the meat.
  2. In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. This seasoned flour mixture will provide the chicken with its deliciously crispy coating.
  3. After the marinating time, remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C), ensuring there’s enough oil to fully submerge the chicken pieces.
  5. Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding the fryer. Fry for approximately 15-18 minutes, or until the chicken reaches a golden brown hue and is fully cooked through.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving, ensuring maximum juiciness and flavor.
