Classic Crepe Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Preparation
1. Mix the Batter:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and eggs.
- Gradually incorporate the milk and water, stirring until well combined.
- Add the salt and melted butter, then beat until the mixture is smooth.
2. Heat the Skillet:
- Lightly oil a griddle or frying pan and heat over medium-high heat.
- Pour or ladle approximately 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each crepe.
- Tilt the pan in a circular motion to ensure the batter evenly coats the surface.
3. Cook the Crepes:
- Cook each crepe for about 2 minutes, or until the bottom turns light brown.
- Use a spatula to loosen the edges, then flip the crepe and cook the other side.
4. Serving:
- Serve the crepes hot, garnished with powdered sugar and fresh berries such as strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.
- Additional toppings like whipped cream, Nutella, or your favorite spread can be added.
Tips:
- Ensure the batter is smooth and lump-free; using a blender can help achieve this.
- The skillet should be sufficiently hot to cook the crepes quickly without burning them.
- Don’t worry if the first crepe isn’t perfect; it often takes one or two tries to get the temperature just right.
Enjoy your delicious homemade crepes!
