Cheesy Quick Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ tablespoons baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheese.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, milk, and beaten egg.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing!
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Suggestions:

  • For an extra cheesy flavor, sprinkle additional shredded cheese on top of the batter before baking.
  • Consider adding other mix-ins such as chopped fresh herbs, cubed ham, or chopped jalapeños.
  • While best enjoyed warm, this bread can be stored at room temperature for up to three days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
