Succulent Braised Oxtails Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 pounds of beef oxtails
- 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons of kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon of freshly cracked or ground black pepper
- 3/4 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 cups of beef broth
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 stalks of celery, sliced
- 1 bay leaf
Directions:
- Begin by seasoning the oxtails with salt and pepper, then generously coat them in flour, ensuring to shake off any excess.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the oxtails and sear them until nicely browned on all sides. Set aside the browned oxtails.
- In the same pot, add the sliced onion, minced garlic, carrots, and celery, sautéing until they become tender and fragrant.
- Return the seared oxtails to the pot, then pour in the Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and add the bay leaf. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and let the oxtails braise for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is incredibly tender and easily falls off the bone. Remember to remove the bay leaf before serving.
