Classic Macaroni and Cheese Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of dry elbow macaroni
- 4 tablespoons of salted butter
- 2 cans (370 mL/12 oz each) of evaporated milk
- 1/3 cup of milk of your choice
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic salt
- 4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
Directions:
- Start by bringing a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt to the boiling water and cook the macaroni until it reaches al dente texture.
- Drain the cooked macaroni and return it to the pot. Add the butter and stir until it’s fully melted. Set the pot aside.
- In a separate large bowl, thoroughly combine the evaporated milk, milk, eggs, and garlic salt.
- In another bowl, mix together the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Now, it’s time to layer: Start by placing one-third of the cooked macaroni into the prepared baking pan, followed by one-third of the cheese mixture. Repeat this layering process until you’ve used up all the macaroni and cheese.
- Pour the milk mixture evenly over the layered macaroni and cheese.
- Sprinkle paprika evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
