Decadent Strawberry Bombs
Ingredients:
- Fresh strawberries
- 8 oz light cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or melted chocolate
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for lighter chocolate)
- Crushed graham cracker crumbs for topping (optional)
Equipment:
- Melon baller or small spoon
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
- Microwave-safe bowl or double boiler
Instructions:
- Prepare the Strawberries: Using a melon baller or small spoon, gently create a hollow in the top of each strawberry without piercing through the bottom or sides.
- Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Fill the Strawberries: Transfer the cheesecake filling into a piping bag or small plastic bag. Fill each prepared strawberry with the cheesecake mixture.
- Melt the Chocolate: Combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler to melt the chocolate.
- Coat the Strawberries: Dip each filled strawberry into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Use a toothpick or tongs to assist in dipping and gently tap off any excess chocolate.
- Optional Toppings: Sprinkle the chocolate-covered strawberries with crushed graham cracker crumbs or other decorations like mini chocolate chips or sprinkles if desired.
- Set and Serve: Place the coated strawberries on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour until the chocolate coating hardens.
- Enjoy: Once the chocolate has set, your strawberry bombs are ready to be enjoyed. Serve immediately or store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Tips:
- Variety of Fillings: Experiment with different fillings such as Nutella, peanut butter, or marshmallow fluff to customize your strawberry bombs.
- Chocolate Choices: Use dark, milk, or white chocolate depending on your taste preference, each offering a distinct flavor profile to complement the strawberry and cheesecake filling.
- Storage: While best enjoyed fresh, these strawberry bombs can be stored in the refrigerator for a day or two.
These strawberry bombs not only tantalize the taste buds but also add a touch of elegance, making them perfect for parties, special occasions, or simply as a delightful treat for yourself. Enjoy the process of creating and savoring this delightful dessert!
