Filled Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 250g chocolate
- 180g butter
- 375g powdered sugar
- 3 eggs
- 200g self-rising flour
- 40g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 250ml hot water
Filling:
- 100g softened butter
- 100g dulce de leche
- 100g chocolate, melted using a bain-marie
- 100g whipped cream
- 2 tbsp instant coffee
- Unsweetened cocoa powder for sprinkling
Steps:
- Melt the chocolate and butter together using a bain-marie. Transfer the melted mixture into a bowl.
- Add the powdered sugar, eggs (one at a time), self-rising flour, and cocoa powder to the bowl, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually incorporate the hot water into the mixture, stirring continuously.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake mold dusted with cocoa powder. Bake in a preheated medium-low oven for approximately one hour. To check if it’s done, gently shake the mold; the cake should remain firm.
- Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the mold.
For the filling:
- In a separate bowl, combine the softened butter, dulce de leche, melted chocolate, whipped cream, and instant coffee, stirring gently until a creamy consistency is achieved.
- Cut the cooled cake horizontally into two or three layers, as desired, and spread the filling evenly between the layers.
- Optionally, cover the surface of the cake with the remaining filling or sprinkle with cocoa powder. Alternatively, decorate with meringues and white chocolate balls.
