Filled Chocolate Cake Recipe

Filled Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250g chocolate
  • 180g butter
  • 375g powdered sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 200g self-rising flour
  • 40g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 250ml hot water

Filling:

  • 100g softened butter
  • 100g dulce de leche
  • 100g chocolate, melted using a bain-marie
  • 100g whipped cream
  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for sprinkling

Steps:

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter together using a bain-marie. Transfer the melted mixture into a bowl.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, eggs (one at a time), self-rising flour, and cocoa powder to the bowl, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Gradually incorporate the hot water into the mixture, stirring continuously.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased cake mold dusted with cocoa powder. Bake in a preheated medium-low oven for approximately one hour. To check if it’s done, gently shake the mold; the cake should remain firm.
  5. Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the mold.

For the filling:

  1. In a separate bowl, combine the softened butter, dulce de leche, melted chocolate, whipped cream, and instant coffee, stirring gently until a creamy consistency is achieved.
  2. Cut the cooled cake horizontally into two or three layers, as desired, and spread the filling evenly between the layers.
  3. Optionally, cover the surface of the cake with the remaining filling or sprinkle with cocoa powder. Alternatively, decorate with meringues and white chocolate balls.
