Exquisite Easy Pastry Recipe with Minimal Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups of water (300 ml)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups flour
For greasing:
- 200 g butter or margarine
For the filling:
- 100 g feta cheese
For the topping:
- 1 egg yolk
Directions:
- In a deep bowl, combine water and eggs. Gradually add salt and flour until a soft dough forms that doesn’t stick to your hands.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions, cover them, and let them rest for 10 minutes.
- Roll out each dough portion into a 40 cm square on a floured surface. Spread softened butter over one sheet of dough, then stack the remaining sheets on top, repeating the butter application between each layer.
- Roll out the stacked dough into a square shape, joining opposite edges in the middle and applying oil on them. Repeat this process, folding the dough in half twice more, each time applying oil.
- Cover the folded dough and refrigerate for 1 hour. After chilling, roll out the dough into a square shape as much as possible on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the dough in half, then slice each half into 7 pieces, resulting in 14 strips. Make small cuts on the ends of each strip.
- Place feta cheese on the uncut end of each strip, fold it into a triangle shape, and seal the edges.
- Arrange the prepared pastries on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush them with egg yolk, and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown.
