Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 2 cups of pecans
  • 3/4 cup of melted butter
  • 1/2 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 ounce) bag of caramels
  • 1 1/3 cups of water (or as instructed by your cake mix)
  • 1/3 cup of oil (or as instructed by your cake mix)
  • 3 eggs (or as instructed by your cake mix)
  • 1 (18 ounce) box of German chocolate cake mix

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Follow the directions on your cake mix to prepare the batter.
  3. Pour half of the batter into a 13×9 inch pan.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool.
  6. In a double boiler, combine caramels, milk, and butter. Stir constantly until melted.
  7. Pour the melted caramel mixture over the cooling cake.
  8. Sprinkle 1 cup of pecans and chocolate chips on top.
  9. Pour the remaining batter over the pecans and chocolate chips.
  10. Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  11. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
